Volunteers Wanted

Volunteer Recruitment : Stepping Forward Job Club

After a long period of inactivity, we are re-developing the Stepping Forward Job Club at Birchfield Big Local. We are seeking to recruit a mixture of experienced and interested volunteers.

CAN YOU HELP?

Volunteer Assistants will develop and plan support activities and specialist service signposting in conjunction with other staff and partners.

Background:

The Birchfield Big Local (BBL) Stepping Forward Project was initially set up to provide a friendly and relaxed environment in which local people could improve their employment prospects for the future and explore the opportunities available to them.

This included:

  • Help with writing or checking CV’s

  • Help to access employment, training and education opportunities

  • Help with completing applications and letters

The project also offered access to other BBL provisions for people to learn new skills including conversational English and basic IT to build their confidence. The support provided was tailored to meet the specific needs of those attending and much of the support was on a one-to-one basis.

Over recent years the project has gradually ground to a halt due largely to the loss of key volunteers that led its activities.
