The BBL Stepping Forward Project was initially set up to provide a friendly and relaxed environment in which local people could improve their employment prospects for the future, learn or develop their IT knowledge and explore the opportunities available to them.
Help with writing or checking CV’s and reviewing job applications
Help to access employment, training and education opportunities
Help with completing applications and letters
Basic IT support & Tuition
The project also offered access to other BBL provisions for people to learn new skills including conversational English and basic IT to build their confidence. The support provided was tailored to meet the specific needs of those attending and much of the support was on a one-to-one basis.
We are currently re-developing this programme following a period of inactivity.
We are in the process of recruiting IT/Job Club Volunteer Assistants who will play a key role in working alongside the Volunteer Co-ordinator and BBL Partnership to facilitate opportunities for local unemployed people to secure job training and access to job opportunities.
Essentially the Volunteer Assistants will provide a friendly and welcoming job support service for BBL’s IT & Stepping Forward Job Club users and visitors.
