The BBL Elders Activity & Social Group was initially set up to provide socialising and informational activities for people aged 50 and over from a range of backgrounds and cultures, living in the Birchfield Big Local (BBL) area.
We are developing a much more varied choice of activities in order to attract participants from wider cultural groups within the BBL area, and to ensure that the experiences of attending sessions are enjoyable and educational for all involved.
To this end some of the types of activities will include:
-
Health & wellbeing talks, workshops or external visits delivered or hosted by third party organisations or practitioners.
-
Arts and creative sessions (e.g. tie dye, t-shirt printing, visits to exhibitions, museums and recreational grounds etc).
-
Healthy eating and taster sessions encouraging participants to think about what they eat and the impact on their physical health.
-
Incorporating BBL annual Christmas meal and choir events as an integral part of the activities of the Elders Group.
The Elders Activity & Social Group Volunteer Assistants will play a key role in working alongside the Volunteer Co-ordinator and BBL Partnership to facilitate opportunities for local people aged 50 and over to access the groups activities and others locally.
Essentially the Volunteer Assistants will provide a friendly and welcoming service for BBL’s Elders Activity & Social Group users and visitors.
For more information contact the BBL office on 0121 448 5594 or Tippa Naphtali (Volunteer Co-ordinator) on 07421 994753 or tippa@birchfieldbiglocal.org
