In the week leading up to Christmas volunteers organized a meal for local elders at the Sons of Rest building in Handsworth Park. Andrea Walker from the Boat House Café provided a delicious Christmas meal of Turkey and Chicken with all the trimmings (vegetarian option – Nut Roast) – and entertainment was provided by local poet and musician Milton Godfrey (with sound engineer Mikey Godfrey). Partnership member, Dorette Hanson, expertly compered the bingo and a quiz. Thanks to Suki – Volunteer Co-ordinator and all the volunteers including Mehnaz, Israt, Koli and Sharon for planning and organizing the event. Many thanks also to Shaana, Asda Community Life Champion, who provided gifts and prizes.
