Birchfield Residents Action Group (BRAG) welcomed Carol Miller and Jenny Brewer on Wednesday 20th July to assess Bloom in Birchfield – part of the Royal Horticultural Society’s It’s Your Neighbourhood campaign. Carol and Jenny started at the Livingstone Road Community Allotments and enjoyed some wonderful food prepared by Lurlyn and Barbara and sourced from the allotment site. They looked at front gardens on Havelock and Westminster Road before visiting Westminster Primary School to talk to the children and see the fruit, herbs and vegetables they have grown in the school grounds – including Strawberries, Tomatoes, Potatoes and Fenugreek or Methti. Stamford Road was also included for the first time this year where the interest generated by the front garden competition is spreading fast.
