Young People's Half Term Project PosterWelcome to MY ENDZ Birchfield Big Local (BBL) Youth programme.

We at BBL seek to work with young adults within the area who range from ages 8 to 18-year-old. We aim to engage, educate, empower and offer fun activities that build lifelong learning. The staff team is led by a qualified youth & community worker and a voluntary youth support team.

We deliver various half term projects such as summer schemes, day trips, black history events, music studio sessions , arts and conduct outreach sessions within the area. We continue to build wider activities with other local youth services and charity organisations. All staff are DBS checked and have local knowledge of the Birchfield area and work to make the communities welcome to engage with the wider Birchfield Big Local strategic plan.

My Endz Project 2018

This project was designed and created to engage youth primarily, and the wider communities of Birchfield Big Local. The need for this project has been highlighted by the Birchfield Big Local which has a key target within the 2016-18 action plan under the remit of building thriving communities.

A high percentage of the population of Birchfield are young people, around 45% under 30’s according to the last consensus 2011. These young adults need to be engaged and heard in shaping the wider local agenda’s as part of the overall BBL plan. This phase of engagement will hopefully support and highlight the need for youth groups to have a ‘space’ to be able to develop in their learning, and a location to call ‘theirs’.

This programme has learnt from previous good practice from namesakes delivered in 2012 by youth groups from Birmingham, Leicester and Nottingham sharing their histories and similarities within service delivery.

The area of Birchfield is a historical location with various venues of note, such as Grosvenor Recording Studios, where the theme track for Thunderbirds was recorded, St Mary’s Church, were industrial greats James Watts, Mathew Boulton and William Murdoch are buried.
