ATHAC & Birchfield Big Local
ATHAC supports parents and carers with children with disabilities, organising residential trips and opportunities for children and young people to experience creative arts, outdoor and environmental activities.
We are delighted to welcome Russell Green who has just joined the Birchfield Big Local team as Youth Worker. Russell trained in Youth and Community work at Westhill College, Birmingham and is familiar with the Handsworth area having worked at Oaklands Young People’s Centre. Russell will be out and about to meet with young people, parents and community organisations in the Birchfield area in the weeks to come. We will be featuring an interview with Russell in the next newsletter.
Birchfield Residents Action Group are holding their annual Spring Open Day (1 – 4pm) on Saturday 6th May at the Allotment Pavilion – off Livingstone Road (opposite Broadway Dance Centre).

Birchfield Big Local is offering an exciting opportunity for someone to take on the role of part-time Youth Worker to engage with young people to make Birchfield an even better place to live and work.

£11,428.57 per annum (based on full-time equivalent of £20,000 per annum)

The Youth Worker will engage and build relationships with young people in the Birchfield Big Local area to facilitate their personal, social and educational development and enable them to develop their voice, influence and place in the local community and wider society. To develop the work of Birchfield Big Local with young people including youth activities, volunteering, and opportunities for young people to contribute to the Big Local outcomes. The person appointed will be employed through BVSC who act as the Local Trusted Organisation for Birchfield Big Local.

Birchfield Regeneration Action Group (BRAG) is looking for a part-time Project Manager to be based at Livingstone Road Community Allotment. The post involves working with the BRAG committee, volunteers and others to manage, maintain and develop the Livingstone Road Community Allotment site, and also organising the annual Bloom in Birchfield campaign – part of a national initiative to encourage local residents to take greater pride in their neighbourhoods.
